  Community and outreach projects

A primary objective of Manas is to ensure that comprehensive mental health services are available to all. From its inception, Manas has initiated several community outreach programmes, targeted especially at children, adolescents and women. Disadvantaged populations have the twin burden of increased mental health problems and insufficient access to mental health services. Manas has collaborated with organisations such as Karam Marg, National Association for the Blind, Asha Kiran Home for the Mentally Challenged, to provide mental health services to their target populations. The Manas team of Psychologists has prepared a Manual on Stress and Coping during examinations for the CBSE. They are also on the CBSE telephonic distress helpline. Students with examination related anxiety, suicidal ideation and psychosomatic problems reach out for help through these helplines. We collaborate with other NGOs to provide training in counselling and psychological skill enhancement for their staff. This facilitates their reaching out to their beneficiaries and better interaction with them.
